PRIVACY YOU CAN UNDERSTAND

Your document stays
on your side.

Veil processes document contents in your browser.
Here’s how your files and exports are handled.

Document contents

When you open a PDF or image, its contents are held in this browser’s memory. Veil does not upload the file to its server or send it to an AI model. The original remains on your device. Leaving or refreshing clears the editor’s working document.

Your exported copy

For PDF and PNG exports, marked areas are replaced with fully opaque pixels in the chosen fill color. PDF export creates a new image-only document rather than copying source PDF pages, text layers, annotations, attachments, or source metadata.

Text export extracts text from a text-based PDF, replaces whole text items that touch your marked areas, and opens an editable review. Embedded PDF text can contain material that is not obvious in the page preview. Read the text output carefully before downloading it. Image uploads and scanned pages do not get OCR text extraction.

Your final review

Veil does not automatically find every sensitive detail. A rectangle only covers the area you mark. Check every page, file contents, and the final output. Follow your organization’s information-sharing rules and evaluate the destination AI tool before uploading or pasting anything.

Local processing does not control your device, browser extensions, or an AI provider’s service. Veil does not claim a security certification, legal compliance status, or a guarantee that a document is appropriate for every use.
